Je suis à l'envers. une

"Je suis à l'envers" is French for "I am upside down" and depicts a portrait of Ilunga smiling and holding her head with both hands, her afro is accentuated by a dark contrast and circular mark making. There is a line around her face which implies that her face is a mask. This is Ilunga's personal experience during the course of the pandemic. She felt as if she was shedding her skin, becoming more vulnerable with herself and even seeing a side of herself she never knew existed before.
