The Moon as Envy

"The Moon as Envy" features a blend of various shades of green that merge into black and white hues. Ilunga aimed to depict the Earth's moon from a unique perspective – that of the moon looking down at humanity. This artwork invites us to ponder on our human experience and the cultures we've created, viewed from the perspective of an entity as powerful as the Moon. The Moon's personification allows us to gain perspective on the genuineness of our experiences. Perhaps the Moon is envious of our ability to experience joy, pain, and pleasure, while it remains a solitary entity in space. The artwork suggests that the Moon absorbs our energy while simultaneously giving energy to the Earth's oceans.
